It’s was never just a degree…

Studying public relations really changed how I approached ‘I’m Inside’. It helped me understand the theme and the meaning I wanted to put out through the book. It also taught me how important it is to think about the people receiving it, what they might be feeling, what they might need and how the message lands with them.

PR helped me create with more intention, not just creatively but emotionally too. The book is simple on purpose because sometimes simplicity says more than anything else. It was never meant to be about me but about a message you’ll slowly come to understand.

So where have I been? Since announcing the launch of I’m Inside, I’ve been lucky enough to be invited to speak at events, most recently at a women’s event in Paris. Am I entering my public speaking era? Well I pray so.

Public relations has prepared me in ways I didn’t expect. I still haven’t used Pythagoras’ theorem (like my maths teacher would yell at me for, whenever I didn’t pay attention) but I do use my PR degree every single day. Whether it be in conversations, in listening and in finding real ways to connect with people.

I’ll tell you something now for free…Public Relations is much more than a degree or a subject. It’s a lifestyle.
